10 ALTERNATIVE WEDDING FAVOUR IDEAS

Okay, so you know there are sugared almonds (and they are great and all), but that's just not you. But what is? Here I throw 10 alternative wedding favour ideas your way as a little inspiration on possibilities that you may not have discovered yet.

Thank you, ta, cheers. There are so many ways to say 'thank you!' and this applies to wedding favours too. Gone are the days when your only option was sugared almonds, but with so many ways to say thanks, which one do you choose? How can you come up with something that says to everyone 'this is me', how do you put your stamp on it?

Well, I wish I could answer that for you, but seeing as we are all so amazingly unique and different it is hard for anyone to answer that question but you. What I can do is show you 10 alternative wedding favours that others have chosen to opt for on their big day.

It just goes to show that anything goes these days, so take my 10 as inspiration, maybe it will spark something for you.

Favour #1 - Tea!

How about a funny play on words!? Some couples are opting to give their guests an item such as a teabag with a humorous tag to say thanks. It could say something like 'The perfect blend', or 'love brewing', or 'you're my cup of tea'. To add even more to it you could even include the tea bag in a little pouch with your names and wedding date on it. Super cute in my opinion! Not a tea lover? How about coffee?

Favour #2 - Seeds

There are so many favours that can incorporate a play on words, and here is another! Think 'let love grow', or 'sow in love' or 'meant to bee'. And if you love gardening or are passionate about looking after our planet, this favour will help inject a little of your personality into your big day. Wildflower seeds are a popular choice as they really help out the bees, butterflies and other pollinators. A favour that does the planet a favour! Win-win.

Favour #3 - Alcohol

If you feel you've not quite achieved getting your guests merry enough on your big day, how about a mini bottle of alcohol to top them off and say thank you? Maybe you and your partner have a signature drink that you both love to share - this could be a perfect choice for you both. It's another way to inject a little of you into a day that is, well, supposed to be all about you (of course) ;).

Favour #4 - Flip Flops

Say what!? I know, I know, but think about it, your guests' feet will be aching just as much as yours by the end of the night and what more of a welcome gift could you get at this point than a pair of comfortable, cooling flip flops! It also gives you and your partner the perfect excuse to don a pair yourself and bring on the comfort. Yes! Never mind you thanking your guests, your guests will be thanking you.

Favour #5 - Popcorn

Calling all movie lovers! Or maybe you just really like popcorn? There's not much more I can say here really, but this is a must for any couples that wish to incorporate their love of movies or the cinema into their day. It's definitely a fun alternative!

Favour #6 - A candle

Candles are just naturally associated with romantic occasions. They can add a soft romantic glow to a room, and depending on the scent you choose they can help evoke a certain feeling or mood. That's not to say you would be lighting your guests' thank-you gifts, but you could include some of your own lit ones on your wedding day. How about choosing a scent that is very personal to you, or maybe personalising the labels with your names and wedding date? You could even choose a candle colour to match your theme. There are quite a few ways to tie them into the day, and if you have some lit on the day, when the guests come to light theirs (and you light your own) the scent will be a happy reminder of your wedding. I think candles would work well to give a fantastic feel to gothic-themed weddings too.

Favour #7 - Succulents

We've had seeds, but how about a whole plant? Yes, this has definitely been a popular alternative option and has worked really well with the Boho-style wedding, with wedding couples opting to give succulent plants as a thank-you gift. And a lovely side to giving a plant as a gift is that you can put a bit of love into the gift by growing it yourself!

Favour #8 - Fortune cookies

I love the idea of this one! Just type 'custom fortune cookies' into google and you'll find plenty of businesses offering to put your personalised message into them. You could have absolutely anything! There are some more straight-forward messages, such as 'thank you for celebrating our love', the more romantic deep kind, 'love is looking together in the same direction', and there's even the option of something a little more playful like 'a wise husband is one who thinks twice before saying nothing.' The world is your fortune cookie!

Favour #9 - Matches

'A match made in heaven', or as in the pic 'A perfect match'. Yes, I know I've included a few of the play-on word favours already but honestly, what's not to love about them? Maybe you met through one of those dating sites? You know which one I mean ;), well, it could be a nod to that.

Favour #10 - Cancer research enamel pins

So my last alternative favour is a fantastic one. I definitely saved the best for last, as with this kind of favour, you can actually contribute to a good cause at the same time. It doesn't have to be cancer research of course, but whatever charity or cause is close to your heart could be a really good choice. Cancer research sells all kinds of beautifully designed wedding favours like this top hat, and with each one you buy, you will be making a donation by doing so. You can visit them here.

With so many wedding favour options out there you can really go wild. Hopefully what you can see from my list is that you really can have anything you want and make your day special and unique for you both. I'm sure you will come up with a fantastic idea that just screams you as a couple. When you've found your perfect favour idea I would love to know what you chose. Drop me a comment below!
